The Under-19s get the better of Milan at the Di Stéfano

1 day(s)

The Under-19s picked up a crucial win on UEFA Youth League matchday four. Arbeloa's team were too strong for Milan at the Alfredo Di Stéfano, to pick up their second win in this season's competition. Our academy side took all three points thanks to goals for Yáñez and Fortea, despite the visitors cutting the deficit through Sia after the break.
Our boys began the game in dominant fashion, and it took them just 12 minutes to convert their superiority into a lead. Fortea made his way down the right flank, sent a beautiful ball into the box, where Yáñez was on hand to turn it home and make it 1-0. Just four minutes later, Pol Fortuny had a chance to double the advantage when he latched onto De Llanos' gorgeous backheel in the area, but his shot was stopped by Colzani. The Under-19s' second didn't take much longer to materialise, though. Yáñez was brought down by Tartaglia in the box, and Fortea stepped up to convert from the spot (19’). Following a period of end-to-end action, the first half came to a close at 2-0.
Real Madrid and Milan both reduced to 10
With the second half barely underway, the visitors tried their luck with Sia's shot, but Álvaro kept it out comfortably. Then, with 56 minutes played, the same Italian forward unleashed a vicious strike from inside the box that our keeper could do nothing about this time. Both teams were later reduced to ten men following sendings-off for Albe (67’) and Roberto Martín (73’), both for two yellow cards, but the intensity of the clash remained high. Barroso and Aimar both looked to add to the lead with powerful drives from the edge of the box, the first kept out by the away side's goalkeeper, and the second whistling narrowly over the bar. In the closing stages, Milan came close to finding an equaliser, but Álvaro and the madridista defence stood firm to take the points.
