Real Madrid-Leipzig: Champions League quarter-final spot at stake

2 month(s)

The Champions League is back at the Santiago Bernabéu after three months away and the stadium hosts a pivotal match on the club's anniversary day. Real Madrid will be looking to take another step forward in their fight for the trophy and seal their place in the quarter-finals. Leipzig, who made life difficult for the madridistas in the first leg, will be hoping to turn the tie around (9pm, CET).

Today represents a special day. 122 years ago Real Madrid began its journey as the best club in the world, which has lifted 25 European Cups (14 in football and 11 in basketball) and was named by FIFA as the Best Club of the 20th Century. The best way to commemorate this anniversary will be to reach the next round of the knockout stages at the Santiago Bernabéu.

100%-win record
If they are to achieve their objective of being among the eight teams in the draw on 15 March in Nyon, the madridistas will be looking to capitalise on the 0-1 win at the RB Arena. The Whites has won seven games in Europe this season and will be bidding to continue that momentum tonight.

. Among them is Bellingham, who returns to the Champions League as the team's top scorer (four goals in five games). The Englishman is closely followed by Rodrygo and Joselu (3), and Vini Jr. and Brahim (2). The latter grabbed the winning goal in Germany against Leipzig.

Leipzig
Marco Rose's side visit the Santiago Bernabéu following a 4-1 away win over Bochum in the Bundesliga. They will be looking to bounce back against Real Madrid and book their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Openda is their top scorer this season with 21 goals.
