Lucas Vázquez played his 250th league game for Real Madrid against Alavés. The youth academy graduate, who has reached this milestone after ten seasons with the team, was the captain of the side and played a key role in the game by scoring the first goal of the night. He spoke to Realmadrid TV after the game: "We're happy with the win. We put in a great performance until the 80th minute. Two concentration lapses led to two goals and we had to hang on a bit more than we should have done. We deserved a better ending with the performance we'd put in, but we have to look on the bright side and we've done a lot of things right".

His goal
"It was the start of the game and I saw the move clearly, Vini Jr. was coming to the byline and I was going to see it. I'm happy to help the team with this goal".

What does Ancelotti ask of you?
"The coach asks us to be direct, we're a very quick team in transitions. We're on the up, we're playing better and better. We all want to keep getting better so that we can reach the key part of the season in the best possible shape".

First captaincy at the Bernabéu
'It's a huge honour to be able to be captain of this great club. I'm very happy with that'.

Next Sunday's derby
'It's one of the nicest games to play in. It's going to be very intense and important for us. We're really looking forward to winning’.

His statistics
Lucas Vázquez has 175 wins and 26 goals in LaLiga, a competition he has won four times: 2016-17, 2019-20, 2021-22 and 2023-24. The seasons he played the most league games were 2016-17 and 2017-18 (33) and the opponents he has come up against the most times are Valencia, Celta Vigo, Villarreal and Real Sociedad (14). Across all competitions, he has now played 356 games for Real Madrid.
