Lucas Vázquez: "Our solidity is what keeps us at the top of the table"

3 week(s)

Lucas Vázquez spoke to Realmadrid TV after our team's victory in Mallorca. The home-grown player, who started the game at Son Moix, declared: "There are many things to highlight. It was a very complicated game in which the team needed to play a different kind of football, to pick up loose balls, to fight for the game. In the end the team did a great job and got a well-deserved win.

"Our solidity is what keeps us at the top of the table. The team is having a great season. LaLiga is the competition of consistency and the team is showing that it is at a very good level. We knew how important it was to keep a clean sheet and that's what we've done."

How did you see yourself and how did you see the team defensively?
"We were talking before the game that a clean sheet was essential to win the game. We achieved it because we did a very good job defensively. The whole team was at a great defensive level and in the end it's a very important victory for our goal of winning LaLiga."

Tchouameni's goal
"He scored a great goal. He's a great lad, a good guy, who also has a great personality. He's tried many times to score that shot and that goal and today it came off. I'm very happy for him."

Second leg against Manchester City
"We're doing very well. We're in a good moment, we're having a good final stretch of the season and the team is at a great level both collectively and individually. Almost all the players are performing wonderfully and we're going into Wednesday with a great desire to win the game, to get through the tie and go through to the semis, and to win the Champions League as well."
