Castilla win on the road

Real Madrid Castilla emerged victorious from their trip to Atlético Baleares on matchday 29 of the Primera Federación. This was Madrid's ninth win of the campaign in what was a high tempo game, but one that lacked chances and was decided by a Villapalos own goal after a free-kick from Nico Paz (71’).

The game started with high intensity, although both sides lacked composure in the final third of the pitch. Castilla looked to get the ball out wide, while the home side opted to play long passes. The first chance of the game came after the half hour mark, with Palacios' effort ending up in Jero's hands. Atlético Baleares responded with a header from Navarro that went wide. Straight after, Loren's shot went narrowly off target.

After an electrifying end to the first half, the tempo continued after the restart. The Whites had the chance to take the lead in the 65th minute when Álvaro Rodríguez had a great chance in front of the keeper, but the home defence blocked the madridista's effort. The breakthrough finally came in the 71st minute. Nico Paz swung in a free-kick and, after a rebound, Villapalos turned the ball into his own net. The home side pushed hard for an equaliser in the final minutes, but Cañizares made some great saves to keep the scoreline intact.
