Castilla beatn by Córdoba

1 month(s)

Real Madrid Castilla suffered a defeat against Córdoba at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium. Our team, who had the better chances in the game, were beaten by the second-placed team in their matchday 31fixture. Calderón capitalised on his team's first threatening chance to put them ahead in the 59th minute and Toril scored the second from the spot in the 76th minute.
Castilla went out onto the pitch with the intention of dominating the game. Raúl's team pressed high up the pitch in order to play in their opponents' half and cause the visitors problems. Our team were outplaying a Cordoba side who didn't trouble Cañizares during the whole of the first half. But despite chances from Nico Paz, Mario Martín, Álvaro and David González, who hit the crossbar in the 21st minute, the teams went into the changing rooms all square at 0-0.
The reserve team's idea for the second half was clear: to continue with their intensity and dominance, and to be more clinical in front of goal. It was Córdoba, however, who took advantage with their first shot on target to beat Cañizares through Calderón (58'). Castilla were reduced to ten men in the 74th minute when Mario Martín was sent off and, three minutes later, Marvel gave away a penalty for a tackle on Salazar. Toril converted the spot-kick to seal the win.
